Food Processing Industry In India

Abstract
Food industry in India has emerged as an important sector for diversification of agriculture and has established it’s creditability in improving farm income through increased productivity , generating employment and increasing exports besides providing household nutritional security . India has now emerged as second 2nd largest producer of food and production in the world contributing 10% to 13.8 % of the total  world production of  food products respectively
Introduction
          Indian food industry is booming and processing is highly diverse industry  processing is highly diverse industry sector comprising some major subsector .Fruit, Alcoholic and Non-alcoholic beverages confectionary , health foods and supplements. As such growth of sector has been the highest in developed economics especially across western Europe , north America, Japan and Australia organized retailing and availability of better processing technologies too have contributed to growth of sector
Present Position
            India endorsed with diverse agro –climate condition and large irrigated area rank as the world 2nd largest food producer , next only to china .
From high independence on external sources to self –sufficiency in 60 year . India has achieved several distinctions in food production





The country world ranking as a producer vis-à-vis other nations improved considerably , with respect to major products as indicated in table below

Market Trends
Consumption patterns in India are in rapid transition particularly in urban areas and in certain population .The quick frozen products industry has developed rapidly in India. According to Euromonitor in 2009 . Total sales of Frozen Produced food totaled to RMB 15 billion ( US $ 2 Millions) of 4 % increase over the level prevailed in the year 2008 . There here around 2000 quick Frozen food manufacture in India 2009
Over the last ten Years, India’s banking sector has grown by 10%  annually . However the industry still remains highly Fragmented Traders in India broadly categorize ingredients into 3 Groups
1.    Item Used less frequently but that add value to the final products such as baking powder , chocolate
2.    Additive and colouring
3.    Large volumes of frequently used items ingredients such sugar fat and Oil

Conclusion
India is the world 2nd largest food market and also a large processor of much food market and also a large processor of many food categories supplying to both domestic and export markets .The ratio of processed output value in India is only 1:2, where as it is 3:1 in developed countries leaving ample room for expansion
